A fire erupted in the basement of Town Square Mall in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday morning, as confirmed by an official source. Remarkably, no injuries or fatalities were reported as a result of the blaze.
The incident took place in close proximity to Amar Singh College in the Gogji Bagh area of Srinagar. Aqib Hussain Dar, Deputy Director of Fire & Emergency Services, informed ANI, 'The fire had broken out. We mobilized fire tenders from the Gaw Kadal area and our headquarters. Upon arrival, we encountered significant smoke emanating from the basement,' he detailed.
Intense flames were successfully tackled due to the commendable efforts of firefighters, who prioritized ventilation to mitigate smoke buildup, which had created precarious conditions. Dar elaborated that the operation utilized breathing apparatus sets and lighting towers to efficiently counter the hazardous smokey environment.
Dar confirmed that no casualties occurred during the incident and emphasized, 'There could have been extensive damage to property, but our swift and prompt action contained the damage.'
