The Karnataka High Court has stepped in to grant actor Darshan Thoogudeep interim bail for six weeks, a significant development in the Renuka Swamy murder case in which he's implicated. Justice S Vishwajith Shetty's decision is primarily based on Darshan's need for surgical intervention.
The High Court made it clear that Darshan must surrender his passport to the trial court. Furthermore, he was instructed to select a hospital and provide a comprehensive report of his medical state, alongside the requisite treatment, to the court within a week.
After spending 131 days in jail, Darshan is set for temporary freedom. His lawyer, Sunil Kumar, highlighted the spinal issues Darshan faces, arguing that these necessitated the bail. The legal battle for regular bail continues as authorities scrutinize his case and the procedural requirements.
