In a display of cultural tradition and reverence, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan marked the occasion of Dhanteras by purchasing silver coins and utensils from the bustling Roshanpura Square market in Bhopal. The minister was joined by his wife, Sadhna Singh, as they mingled with local shoppers, signaling the start of their Diwali celebrations.

Addressing the media, Minister Chouhan said, "On Dhanteras, we continue our tradition of buying silver coins and utensils. Today, we bought a glass, a tumbler, and silver coins, and lit a diya to commence our Deepawali celebrations as per tradition. I wish happiness and blessings from Maa Lakshmi to everyone." The festival heralds the five-day Diwali festivities, holding a special place in the hearts of celebrants nationwide.

Meanwhile, in a nostalgic gesture, BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya engaged in sales at his family's grocery store on Dhanteras. Reflecting on the legacy, Vijayvargiya shared, "This shop is my father's legacy where he used to sell essentials like milk and sugar. As demand grew, so did the shop, supporting our family's livelihood." The festival venerates deities such as Siddhi Vinayak, Mahalakshmi, and Dhanvantari, blending spiritual and commercial practices.
