The Uttarakhand government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has announced an enhancement in the dearness allowance and ad hoc bonuses for its employees. This decision is set to benefit regular full-time state government workers, University Grant Commission officials, and certain judicial personnel, offering them financial relief ahead of the upcoming festive season.

Employees will receive arrears of the increased dearness allowance from July to September 2024 in cash, subsequently added to their salaries from October 1, 2024. Meanwhile, a cap of Rs 7,000 is maintained for the ad hoc bonus, targeting non-gazetted staff, aided educational institutions, local bodies, district panchayats, and daily wage workers.

Casual or daily wage workers, who have logged at least 240 workdays annually for the past three years, will receive a bonus of Rs 1,184. However, employees under disciplinary action or involved in criminal cases are ineligible for such bonuses. This follows a March 2024 order implementing a 50% dearness allowance, subsequently increased by 3% from July onwards.
