In a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Baramulla have seized 2,695 grams of heroin, valued at approximately Rs 20 crores, and arrested three major figures of a sophisticated smuggling ring, according to officials.

The operation was initiated following credible intelligence, resulting in the detention of Nazim Din, 28, during a surprise checkpoint operation at NHW Khanpora on October 21. Upon searching, officers discovered 519 grams of heroin hidden in a polythene bag under his armpit.

Further questioning revealed that Nazim, influenced by an individual in Downtown Srinagar known as "Mir Sb," collaborated with Waqar Ahmad Khawaja, 25, to transport heroin to Handwara. The ensuing investigation led to Waqar's arrest and the discovery of additional heroin in his car and Manzoor Ahmad Bhat's residence. Police continue to investigate the broader network.
