In a significant regulatory move, Telangana's Drugs Control Administration conducted raids on fifteen private medical shops, issuing show-cause notices for multiple violations of drug regulations.
These establishments, located within government hospitals in major cities such as Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Warangal, and Karimnagar, were found to have obtained several infractions, including selling drugs sans a prescription from a registered medical practitioner. Other notable violations were the absence of a registered pharmacist, failure to maintain regulated drug registers, and the inability to produce essential sales and purchase documentation. Officials also reported improper storage conditions along with the presence of expired drugs, physician samples, and government-supplied medicines.
VB Kamalasan Reddy, Director General of the Drugs Control Administration, emphasized that stringent actions would follow based on the responses obtained from the medical shops. The proceedings align with the established provisions under the drug regulations.
