In a significant victory for security forces, three terrorists were neutralized during a high-stakes encounter in Akhnoor, Jammu & Kashmir, officials confirmed. The anti-terror operation followed an attack on an Army convoy and is part of Operation Asan, aimed at countering repeated threats in the region.
According to Jammu Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh, the joint forces, comprising the Army, police, SOG, and paramilitary units, responded swiftly when the terrorists fired at an Army ambulance. The area was immediately secured, and a search is ongoing to gather further intelligence.
The Indian Army's White Knight Corps, which led the mission, reported an intense firefight after continuous surveillance. During the operation, crucial war-like stores were recovered, aiding future security efforts. The operation also witnessed the tragic loss of Phantom, a Belgian Malinois dog enlisted with the Army to track the terrorists. Phantom's sacrifice was highlighted as a mark of his courage and dedication.
