In a worrying development, terror activities have extended beyond the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, affecting six more districts in the Jammu region in 2024, according to security officials. The escalation has resulted in 44 deaths, including those of 18 security personnel and 13 terrorists.
While there has been a decrease in incidents in the Pir Panjal districts, alarming incidents were reported from Reasi, Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua, Udhampur, and Jammu since April. As a response, security forces have intensified operations, especially in dense forests, to tackle Pakistan-based terror threats.
Officials have also ramped up night patrols and increased their presence in vulnerable areas. In addition, public outreach programs like 'Operation Sadbhavana' aim to win local support through medical camps and community engagement, in a bid to maintain peace in the region.
