A significant development unfolded at the Rouse Avenue court as it reserved its decision on whether to acknowledge the charge sheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against six accused individuals linked to the tragic drowning of three UPSC aspirants. The incident, taking place in the basement of a coaching center in Old Rajender Nagar, has drawn considerable attention.
According to the charge sheet, Abhishek Gupta, the CEO, manager Deshpal Singh, and four co-owners, namely Sarabjit Singh, Parvinder Singh, Tejinder Singh, and Harvinder Singh, face charges under sections related to criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide not amounting to murder. During the hearing, Advocate Abhijit Anand, representing the father of one of the victims, Navin Delvin, criticized the CBI's investigation for allegedly neglecting corruption aspects.
The court, led by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Nishant Garg, heard arguments from both the prosecution and the defense. While the defense questioned the legitimacy and completeness of the charge sheet, the prosecution emphasized the existence of substantial evidence against the accused. The judicial body is set to revisit the matter on November 14, where a decision will be rendered regarding the cognizance of the charge sheet.
