In a significant legal development, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed Inder Pal Singh Gaba's challenge against his custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The charges relate to his involvement in a protest outside the Indian High Commission in London in 2023.
Justice Subramonium Prasad upheld the NIA's stance, emphasizing that a detailed court order would follow shortly. The Special NIA Court in New Delhi has already accepted the charge sheet, filed on September 5, which implicates Gaba as a primary conspirator.
Gaba, a UK resident originally from New Delhi, was detained after exhaustive investigative efforts by the NIA, linking him to secessionist activities. The NIA claims the protest was part of a broader Khalistani agenda, reacting against actions taken by Punjab police. The agency's findings showed digital evidence implicating Gaba in the London High Commission attack.
