In a recent statement, Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has proposed renewing contacts concerning Black Sea shipping operations.

Erdogan raised this issue during a meeting at the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, where he also met UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. However, Putin admitted he has yet to review the documents provided by Turkey.

The Black Sea region remains contentious amid ongoing conflicts, with Putin asserting any resolution must favor Russia's battlefield advances. Despite initiatives like the Black Sea Grain Initiative aimed at easing tensions, shipping through the area is heavily restricted following Russia's exit from the agreement.
