In a significant move ahead of Diwali, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that doctors pursuing postgraduate studies in the state will receive their full salaries. This decision overturns a previous Cabinet ruling that had reduced study leave pay to 40%, negatively impacting doctors seeking further education.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of this policy, stating it will enhance patient care and the state's healthcare system by allowing doctors to focus on both learning and maintaining their medical responsibilities. This initiative underscores the government's commitment to improving doctor training quality and healthcare services across Himachal Pradesh.
The decision, made in response to recent appeals from the medical community, has been praised by the Himachal Medical Officers' Association. Its President, Dr. Rajesh, commended the Chief Minister's initiative, highlighting that it resolves a significant concern and boosts morale among doctors. This aligns with the larger vision of strengthening the state's healthcare by empowering doctors with better educational opportunities and service conditions. (ANI)
