In a growing testament to Delhi's severe air pollution, Chief Justice of India CY Chandrachud has had to forgo his routine morning walks. He cited the hazardous air quality as the reason, underscoring the critical condition in the capital city. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla weighed in, likening the city to a gas chamber because of pervasive contamination.
Poonawalla lashed out at the Aam Aadmi Party for their alleged blame-shifting strategies. According to him, AAP has pointed fingers at other regions rather than addressing local environmental policies. He accused them of deflecting accountability while the city's citizens continue to breathe in toxic air with ineffective solutions, like shuttered smog towers.
On Friday, Delhi was shrouded in smog, with air quality figures reaching dangerous heights. Data showed AQI levels at 283, with several areas like Anand Vihar and Jhilmil Industrial Area also recording elevated levels. Notably, on October 24, Justice Chandrachud highlighted these issues in informal talks, expressing heeding his doctor's advice to limit outdoor activity amid health concerns.
