REC Launches New Transmission Arm for Ratle Power Project

State-owned REC has established Ratle Kiru Power Transmission as a subsidiary through REC Power Development & Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL). This new entity is tasked with managing the transmission system for the Ratle hydroelectric project, with RECPDCL facilitating the competitive selection of transmission service providers.

In a strategic expansion, state-owned REC announced the formation of Ratle Kiru Power Transmission, a wholly-owned subsidiary created under the umbrella of REC Power Development & Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL). The announcement was made in a regulatory filing on Thursday.

The new entity's primary role will be to manage the transmission scheme crucial for evacuating power from the Ratle Hydroelectric Project. This step signifies REC's commitment to strengthening the infrastructure necessary for efficient power distribution.

Further, RECPDCL, acting as the bid process coordinator, will oversee the selection of a transmission service provider. The selection will be carried out through a transparent tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process, in alignment with directives from the Ministry of Power and various state governments.
