The Centre officially announced the appointment of five advocates as additional judges of the Bombay High Court. These appointments were facilitated by the President under the authority of Article 224 of the Indian Constitution.

The advocates appointed are Nivedita Prakash Mehta, Prafulla Surendrakumar Khubalkar, Ashwin Damodar Bhobe, Rohit Wasudeo Joshi, and Advait Mahendra Sethna. Their terms will last for two years from the date they commence their roles, as stipulated in the notification.

This move comes after the Supreme Court collegium, chaired by Chief Justice Dr DY Chandrachud and comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and BR Gavai, put forth their names on September 24. The decision also took into account consultations with the Bombay High Court's Chief Justice, senior judges, and feedback from the Chief Ministers and Governors of Maharashtra and Goa.
