Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy has stressed the urgent need for innovative technological adoption in the coal sector to enhance production while reducing environmental impact. Speaking during a biannual review meeting, Reddy underscored the importance of production efficiency and environmental care.
The minister urged stakeholders to engage in responsible mining by implementing accredited afforestation initiatives and reclaiming de-coaled lands effectively. He also called for responsible mine closures that support affected communities and return rehabilitated areas to productive use, according to a statement from the coal ministry.
Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey, praised the coal sector's advancements over the past six months, emphasizing the ongoing need for safety and environmental sustainability. Coal Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt assured that the government is committed to sustainably meeting the nation's energy demands while safeguarding the environment.
