Odisha is on high alert as Cyclone Dana, as predicted by the India Meteorological Department, is set to unleash heavy rainfall across the state. Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo confirmed that multiple departments have been instructed to brace for impact, particularly in the vulnerable regions of Kendrapara, Balasore, and Bhadrak.

The Deputy CM assured total preparedness, notably in the energy, agriculture, and revenue sectors. He emphasized that essential directives have been dispatched to concerned officers, revoking their leave to ensure readiness. Singh Deo highlighted the unpredictability of the cyclone's path but noted advisories for potential evacuation were issued to local officials.

IMD's recent update cautioned that the low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is expected to deepen into a depression by October 22, evolving into a severe cyclonic storm. It's likely to cross the north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island by the night of October 24, with winds reaching up to 120 kmph.
