NIA Probes Deadly Ganderbal Terror Attack

A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), led by a superintendent-level officer, is on its way to investigate the recent terror attack in Gagangir, Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. This tragic incident resulted in the deaths of a doctor and five construction workers when terrorists opened fire at a construction site on Sunday.
The assailants targeted a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh highway as workers were returning to their camp in the evening. At least two terrorists are believed to have fired indiscriminately, leading to the immediate death of two laborers. A doctor and three others succumbed to their injuries later. Currently, five individuals are receiving medical treatment.
Following the attack, Union Home Minister Amit Shah decried the act on social media platform X, pledging harsh repercussions for those responsible. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed his condemnation, emphasizing the cowardice involved in targeting unarmed laborers. Their statements underline the broader security concerns facing non-local workers in the region.
