Shah addressed senior officers, retired personnel, and families of the martyrs, committing to national security.
The Union Minister highlighted the sacrifice of 36,468 police personnel who have died protecting the nation, with over 216 lost in the past year alone. This day remembers their contributions, particularly those ambushed by Chinese troops in Ladakh in 1959, marking October 21 as an observance of their valor.
The National Police Memorial, dedicated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018, stands as a symbol of honor and unity. Featuring a 30-foot-high granite monolith and the Wall of Valour, it records the names of martyrs, celebrating police personnel's strength and sacrifice. The site hosts tributes and activities every weekend.
