In response to continuous rainfall, the District Collector of Bengaluru has announced a holiday for Anganwadis and schools this Monday, October 21, as a preventive measure prioritizing student welfare. Despite this, all other educational institutions such as degree courses, post-graduate programs, diplomas, engineering, and ITIs will continue their regular schedules.
The educational authorities have been instructed to exercise caution when conducting classes, particularly avoiding sessions in weak or dilapidated buildings. College principals are urged to ensure the structural integrity of their premises to prevent any mishaps. To mitigate the loss of instructional time, additional classes will be scheduled on Saturday afternoons or Sundays.
Furthermore, parents and college administration should ensure student safety by preventing travel to waterlogged areas and inspecting vehicles used for commuting. The District Collector emphasized the need for students to be aware of natural disaster protocols. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts sustained rainfall and a yellow alert for 11 districts in Karnataka, signaling potential heavy showers.
