BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya has asserted that the Trinamool Congress is increasingly feeling the heat from ongoing protests by junior doctors over the RG Kar rape and murder case. According to Bhattacharya, TMC is desperate to end the protests, fearing loss of political ground.

Sunday witnessed an outpour of support from various groups for the junior doctors who have continued their hunger strike demanding justice for the RG Kar case. The West Bengal Junior Doctors' Front led a 21-km protest march in Kolkata on Saturday, attracting people from diverse backgrounds.

The incident has sparked statewide protests, following the brutal rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College. BJP has called for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's resignation, further escalating the political row.

In response, the West Bengal government has requested junior doctors to call off the strike and attend a meeting with CM Mamata Banerjee on October 21. A letter from Chief Secretary Manoj Pant highlighted the health risks involved with the prolonged hunger strike.
