Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav hailed the inauguration of the new terminal building at Rewa airport on Sunday as a fulfillment of a "long-time demand" by the region. The official ceremony was graced with a virtual connection established by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi, marking a historical event of connectivity for the state.

Yadav credited Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla for his persistent efforts in bringing the project to fruition. Earlier on the same day, PM Modi inaugurated new terminal buildings at Rewa Airport, Maa Mahamaya Airport, Ambikapur, and Sarsawa Airport totaling over Rs 220 crore. These upgrades are designed to accommodate approximately 2.3 crore passengers in total.

The unique architectural designs of these terminals reflect the heritage nuances of the region. The upgrades were executed under the UDAN scheme, introduced on October 21, 2016, with the objective of making air travel affordable and accessible to the general populace. Additionally, PM Modi launched several other major developments in Varanasi, comprising extensive airport projects valued at over Rs 6,100 crore along with various local improvements.
