The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra has officially announced its candidates for the upcoming assembly elections, slated for November 20. Chandrashekhar Krishnarao Bawankule, the state BJP president, expressed his gratitude to the party leadership after being named the candidate for the Kamthi Assembly constituency.
Bawankule acknowledged the collective decision-making process involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He emphasized the merit-based and consensual approach to selecting candidates and pledged to secure a win in his constituency.
Among the 99 candidates announced, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will contest from Nagpur South West. Notable entries on the list include Girish Mahajan for Jamner, Sudhir Mungantiwar for Ballarpur, and Sreejaya Ashok Chavan for Bhokar. The elections come as a challenge for the BJP, which was outperformed by the opposition MVA in the recent parliamentary elections.
