In a significant development for connectivity and growth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the Maa Mahamaya Airport in Darima village, situated in Chhattisgarh's Surguja district. This newly launched aviation service is set to transform the travel landscape for millions residing in Surguja and surrounding districts like Jashpur, Surajpur, Balrampur, Korea, and Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur, offering enhanced connectivity to major cities nationwide.

Highlighting the momentous occasion, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai remarked that the airport marks a historic milestone for the region, promising employment opportunities and greater integration of tribal communities with mainstream development. Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu and other dignitaries graced the inauguration, celebrating a step towards realizing a developed India by 2047.

Local entrepreneur Rajesh from Ambikapur expressed optimism, stating that the new airport will facilitate product transport to cities like Delhi and Kolkata, thereby reducing travel costs and enhancing market reach. The airport's strategic location also paves the way for boosted tourism, drawing attention to the region's scenic valleys and attractions like Manpur hill station and Ramgarh caves, subsequently bolstering Surguja's economic appeal.
