Preparations in Varanasi's constituencies are diligently underway with anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit today. PM Modi is set to launch and lay the foundation stone for a suite of projects, collectively valued at approximately Rs 6,100 crore, aimed at boosting local development and infrastructural facilities.

The Divisional Commissioner of Varanasi, Kaushal Raj Sharma, confirmed that the Prime Minister would inaugurate foundational works for 23 distinct projects across the region. The event, scheduled for October 20, will also feature PM Modi addressing the public, underscoring the significance of these infrastructural initiatives.

Among the key developments is the inauguration of Varanasi Sports Complex—with strategic enhancements in phases 2 and 3, valued at over Rs 210 crore under the 'Khelo India' initiative and Smart City Mission. This modern sports facility will include a National Centre of Excellence, athletes' accommodations, and various sports training arenas.

During this visit, PM Modi will unveil extensive airport projects exceeding Rs 6,100 crore. This includes the inauguration of RJ Sankara Eye Hospital, providing elaborate eye care services, with several speeches planned for the day.

Later, around 4.15 pm, the Prime Minister is scheduled to both inaugurate and lay foundation stones for several development projects, focusing on enhancing connectivity. Notably, he will initiate works on expanding the Varanasi airport runway and new terminal constructions under a Rs 2,870-crore initiative.

Additionally, foundational works for new civil enclaves at key airports: Agra (Rs 570 crore), Darbhanga (Rs 910 crore), and Bagdogra (Rs 1,550 crore) will commence. New terminal inaugurations for airports like Rewa and Sarsawa are also planned, collectively enhancing passenger handling to over 2.3 crore annually—the airport designs reviving regional architectural heritage.
