The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) kickstarted its anti-drug campaign 'Sankalp' in Shimla on Saturday, setting its sights on combating the growing drug issue among the youth in Himachal Pradesh and enhancing awareness against substance abuse.

During the launch, NSUI national president Varun Chaudhary emphasized the criticality of the campaign, noting the alarming intrusion of drugs into educational environments. Chaudhary expressed determination for student involvement in tackling this escalating problem, stating, 'After Punjab, drugs are on the rise in Himachal, and we must act now.'

In tandem with the campaign's launch, NSUI stressed the significance of student union elections resuming, emphasizing the role these elections play in representing student voices and strengthening democratic practices within educational settings.

Abhinandan Thakur, NSUI's Himachal Pradesh head, shared similar concerns, highlighting the necessity of instructing the youth about the perils of addiction, while also offering them positive pathways. He expressed hopes that 'Sankalp' will reduce drug addiction and raise awareness amongst students.

In conclusion, the 'Sankalp' campaign by NSUI is positioned to address the pressing issues of drug abuse and unemployment simultaneously. By mobilizing student volunteers, the initiative aims to mitigate the burgeoning drug threat and advocate for the reinstatement of student union elections to ensure active student participation and representation.
