Maharashtra CM Orders Immediate Relief Measures Amid Unseasonal Rains

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has called for urgent damage assessment surveys and compensation for losses due to unseasonal rains in different areas of the state, according to an official statement. Districts in Amravati, Pune, Nashik, Kolhapur, and Marathwada have seen heavy rainfall, with some experiencing storms and strong winds.

The Chief Minister's directives include the immediate execution of damage assessments, rapid compensation to affected farmers, and the swift deployment of assessment teams in impacted villages. District-level disaster management cells are to be activated, and relevant departments are instructed to work in coordination, ensuring effective collaboration with taluka-level authorities.

The announcement coincides with the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections scheduled for November 20, with votes counted on November 23. Political parties, including the MVA alliance of Congress, Shiv Sena-UBT, and NCP-SP, prepare to face the ruling Mahayuti coalition. In recent Lok Sabha elections, MVA secured 30 of 48 seats, while the ruling alliance obtained 17.
