The Director General of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), Zulfiquar Hasan, has pledged rapid measures to address the issue of hoax bomb threats plaguing the aviation sector. He emphasized that the safety of Indian airspace remains uncompromised, urging travelers to take to the skies with confidence.

In an interview with ANI, Hasan confirmed the close coordination with security agencies and airlines to tackle the menace. With a robust protocol in place, quick resolution of these threats is assured. "Indian skies are absolutely safe, and passengers can fly without fear," Hasan reassured the public.

Following a meeting with airline representatives, BCAS discussed existing security protocols, particularly in the face of recent hoax threats. The meeting aimed to address the challenges airlines face due to these threats and potential security issues during the congested festive season.

Amid rising concerns, Spice Jet and Air Asia have already reported multiple hoax bomb threats. BCAS is working with relevant agencies to identify the instigators and is consulting with governmental bodies to amend laws. Proposed changes to the Aircraft Act, 1934, and related regulations could introduce a 5-year imprisonment and place offenders on a no-fly list.
