Murasoli Selvam, the former editor of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's (DMK) official newspaper 'Murasoli', passed away on Thursday morning in Bengaluru at the age of 82 due to health complications. Selvam, widely regarded for his steadfast commitment to the party and familial ties as the son-in-law of the late DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi, leaves behind a significant legacy.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin extended his heartfelt condolences on social media, lamenting the loss of what he described as the "last shoulder" to rely on. Stalin recounted Selvam's supportive role throughout his life, emphasizing his invaluable guidance during crises and contributions to the party's growth. His message highlighted Selvam's status as a foundational pillar of principles within the DMK.

Expressing similar sentiments, Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai also conveyed his grief over Selvam's demise via social media. He offered condolences to MK Stalin and Selvam's family on behalf of the Tamil Nadu BJP, praying for Selvam's peace in the afterlife. Selvam's editorial reign at 'Murasoli' came to an end due to declining health, and the newspaper's helm has since passed to Udhayanidhi Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister and grandson of Karunanidhi.
