In a significant move, the Maharashtra Government has relieved two members of the Juvenile Justice Board in Pune from their duties. This decision comes in the wake of accusations regarding the misuse of power while handling a high-profile case involving a 17-year-old driver linked to a fatal accident.

According to a statement from the state commissioner for women and child development, the prosecution against them followed an investigation into their controversial bail decision. The juvenile, accused of causing the death of two individuals in a Porsche crash, was granted bail under conditions that included writing a 300-word essay on road safety.

The May 19 incident not only claimed two lives but also stirred significant public outcry over perceived leniency towards the accused, allegedly influenced by political connections. The case has further implicated the minor's parents and hospital staff, with Pune Police adding charges against them for attempting to manipulate evidence.
