The Delhi High Court on Wednesday was informed by the Delhi Police that an FIR has been registered following the tragic death of a boy at Kalkaji Temple, attributed to an exposed electric wire. The police assured they would file a charge sheet within a month as directed by the court.
Justice Prathiba M Singh reviewed the status report from the Delhi Police and an affidavit from Mahant Surendra Nath. Standing counsel Sanjay Lau confirmed the FIR was lodged under sections addressing death due to negligence and highlighted the precarious existence of uncovered wires, though subsequent coverage had occurred.
The court discussion included the role of the temple's management in ensuring public safety, with Justice Singh emphasizing accountability to prevent future lapses. The High Court scheduled further deliberations for December 6, seeking comprehensive reports from both the police and temple authorities on the incident and safety measures.
