The political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a seismic shift as the National Conference-Congress alliance secured a decisive victory in the region's latest Assembly election. This win marks a historic restoration of political power, following the contentious abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, which stripped the statehood from Jammu and Kashmir.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has extended his congratulations to the JKNC-INC alliance, describing the mandate as a pivotal moment for democracy and a call for restoring the dignity and statehood of the region. In his statement on social media platform X, Stalin emphasized the significance of this victory, not only for the political parties involved but also for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

With the National Conference securing 42 seats and the Congress achieving six, the alliance comfortably reached an absolute majority in the 90-member assembly. The election, the first of its kind in a decade, witnessed the BJP claim 29 seats, while smaller parties and independents also made their mark. The newly elected government bears the immense responsibility of fostering a sense of belonging among all residents and rebuilding ties with the central government to address regional challenges.
