In a significant development, the Delhi High Court concluded proceedings on Friday concerning the alleged detention of renowned climate activist Sonam Wangchuk. Chief Justice Manmohan, while hearing the case, noted an interview featuring Wangchuk, indicating he was not in custody.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta represented the Delhi Police and confirmed there was no basis for the petition initially filed, aligning with statements from Advocate Prashant Bhushan, who then sought to withdraw the plea. The court accepted this request, officially disposing of the matter.

The petitions filed earlier in the week were connected to claims that Wangchuk and others from Ladakh were detained to prevent their peaceful advocacy for Ladakh's sixth schedule status. After SG Mehta affirmed Wangchuk's release, the court dismissed the related petitions.
