Indian Air Force (IAF) is geared up to conduct a massive airshow on Marina Beach in Chennai to mark the occasion of the 92nd Air Force Day on October 6. According to Rathish Kumar VM, Air Officer Commanding at Tambaram Air Force Station, the event will feature premier fighter jets like Tejas and SU-30, along with Surya Kiran aircraft, demonstrating India's aerial might.

"The theme of the 92nd Air Force Day is 'Potent, Powerful, and Self-reliant,' aligning with which our display is organized at Marina Beach involving 72 aircraft. The flypast, visible from Kovalam to Marina, will be the main attraction," said the Air Officer Commanding. He encouraged young people to be inspired by the Indian Air Force and consider joining.

This year's theme, 'Bhartiya Vayu Sena - Saksham, Sashakt, Atmanirbhar' (Potent, Powerful, and Self-Reliant), underscores the IAF's steadfast commitment to safeguarding India's airspace. Residents of Chennai are set to experience a breathtaking display of aerobatics and synchronized formation flying by 72 IAF aircraft.

Air Force Day commemorates the official induction of the Indian Air Force into the Indian armed forces in 1932. The celebration, graced by the presence of the Indian Air Force chief and senior officers annually, marks a significant milestone in the nation's military history.

Founded initially as a supporting force for the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom in 1932, the IAF formed its first operational squadron a year later in 1933. Since 1950, significant operations undertaken by the IAF include Operation Vijay, Operation Meghdoot, Operation Cactus, and Operation Poomalai. (ANI)
