Karnataka Chief Minister Siddharamiah has expressed surprise at his wife, Parvati's decision to voluntarily surrender 14 plots allocated to her by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA). Addressing the issue on social media platform X, Siddharamiah acknowledged that his wife had endured significant suffering due to the political conspiracy against him.

The Chief Minister deeply regretted involving his wife in this political turmoil, which had subjected her to mental harassment and branded her a victim of a "political vendetta." Siddharamiah reiterated that opposition parties had fabricated false allegations against him, dragging his family into the controversy. However, his wife's decision to return the plots, taken without compensation from MUDA-acquired land in Mysore, was unexpected.

Earlier in the week, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) booked Siddharamiah for alleged money laundering connected to the MUDA land allotment scam. Reacting to this development, Parvati offered to surrender the 14 plots in a letter to the MUDA Commissioner. The investigative process began after the Mysuru Lokayukta registered an FIR against Siddharamiah, following an order from a Special Court in Bengaluru to probe alleged illegalities.

The FIR, filed under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), has prompted a formal inquiry and investigation into the case by the Mysuru Lokayukta, centering on the controversial allotment of sites worth Rs 56 crore to Parvati by MUDA.
