U.N. Nuclear Chief's High-Level Talks in Belarus
Rafael Grossi, head of the U.N. nuclear agency, will visit Belarus for high-level talks and an evaluation of the Ostrovets nuclear power plant. This visit aims to review progress made since the 2021 IAEA safety review and assess current conditions nearly four years after the plant's grid connection.
U.N. nuclear agency chief Rafael Grossi will visit Belarus on Tuesday for high-level discussions in Minsk and to tour the country's nuclear power plant in Ostrovets, according to the agency.
At the Ostrovets NPP, Grossi and his team of experts will evaluate the site conditions nearly four years after its grid connection. The visit will focus on progress in addressing the findings from a 2021 International Atomic Energy Agency operational safety review, the agency added.
The trip underscores the ongoing international monitoring and cooperation to ensure the safety and operational standards of nuclear facilities.
