More than 11,000 Saksham Anganwadi centres are set to be virtually inaugurated during the concluding ceremony of this year's Poshan Maah campaign in Ranchi on Monday.

According to the Women and Child Development Ministry, Saksham Anganwadis are strengthened, upgraded facilities designed for enhanced nutrition and early childhood care and education (ECCE).

The centres feature improved infrastructure including LED screens, water filtration systems, educational materials, and Poshan Vatika, which offers access to various plants and herbs combating malnutrition.

The event will feature Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi, Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar, State Minister Baby Devi, and Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth.

This year's Rashtriya Poshan Maah, running from September 1 to 30, targeted anemia reduction, growth monitoring, complementary feeding, and the integration of education with nutrition under the 'Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi' initiative.

Environmental sustainability was promoted through the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative, encouraging plantation drives at Anganwadi centres nationwide.

Around 12 crore activities improving child nutrition and health were conducted by states and Union territories throughout the campaign.

An exhibition showcasing Mission Poshan 2.0 aspects will also take place at the venue. Launched in 2021, the mission focuses on grassroots-level nutrition awareness and education through inter-ministerial collaborations.

The closing ceremony of Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2024 will celebrate these efforts to foster a healthier India, with Saksham Anganwadi Centres pivotal in ensuring better nutrition and early childhood education.
