Ahmedabad Police have filed an FIR based on a complaint from Amul employees that false information was disseminated via social media suggesting Amul ghee, alleged to contain animal fat, was used in Tirupati prasada. The complaint was lodged with the Cyber Crime Police Station in Ahmedabad on September 20.

"We received a complaint from Amul employees, and an FIR has been registered," confirmed DCP Cyber Crime Ahmedabad, Lavina Sinha. "People using fake social media accounts have spread misinformation that the ghee used in Tirupati prasadam contains animal fat and that Amul supplied the ghee to the temple," she added. The social media accounts involved will be investigated.

Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), stated in an exclusive interview with ANI that the FIR was lodged against the 'misinformation campaign' aimed at defaming Amul. He emphasized that Amul has never supplied ghee to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) and highlighted that their products undergo rigorous quality checks.

Amul subsequently released a statement on social media platform X, clarifying, "We wish to inform that we have never supplied Amul Ghee to TTD." The company reinforced that their ghee is made from pure milk fat at ISO-certified facilities.

The controversy emerged after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu claimed substandard ingredients, including animal fat, were used in Tirupati laddus during the previous government. Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy dismissed these claims as political maneuvering.

Reacting to the row, advocate K Karuna Sagar filed a complaint against Jagan Mohan Reddy and TTD officials. Union Health Minister JP Nadda also discussed the matter with Chief Minister Naidu, seeking a thorough report and promising suitable action.
