Tragic Building Collapse in Meerut: Nine Dead Amid Ongoing Rescue Efforts

In a tragic incident, nine people lost their lives following the collapse of a three-storey building in Meerut's Zakir Colony, Uttar Pradesh. As per official reports, out of 15 trapped individuals, 14 have been rescued, with nine confirmed dead as of Saturday.
Rescue operations led by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are utilizing sniffer dogs to search for signs of life under the rubble. District Magistrate Deepak Meena initially reported three fatalities with six others still trapped when the building collapsed.
Ongoing rescue efforts are being hampered by rain, with 11 districts in Uttar Pradesh currently affected by floods. So far, 17 flood-related deaths have been recorded, according to the Chief Minister's office. Relief funds of Rs 4 lakh each have been allocated to the families of the deceased, with wider relief efforts in place.
