The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday executed raids at various locations across Punjab, tied to a March 2023 protest by pro-Khalistani supporters outside the High Commission of India in Ottawa, Canada. The demonstrators chanted anti-India slogans, draped Khalistani flags on the boundary, and hurled grenades within the premises.

The ongoing raids are part of case RC-17/2023/NIA/DLI, focusing on Punjab's Moga, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and Jalandhar districts. According to the NIA First Information Report (FIR) filed in June 2023, the protesters, led by Amarjot Singh, brother-in-law of jailed Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh, orchestrated the protest that saw the vandalization of the High Commission and grenade attacks on March 23, 2023.

The NIA report identifies Amarjot Singh and unnamed associates as culprits in the unlawful activities, initially investigated by Delhi Police's Special Cell, which registered the case on June 8, 2023.
