Ukrainian Accusation Highlights Threats in Black Sea
Ukraine accused Russia of attacking a civilian grain ship, which underscores ongoing threats to vessels in the Black Sea. The UN stresses that such attacks are prohibited by international law and calls for their cessation to sustain agricultural exports and support global food security.
A Ukrainian accusation on Thursday that Russia attacked a civilian grain ship underscores the ongoing threats faced by vessels in the Black Sea, according to United Nations spokesperson Stephane Dujarric.
Dujarric emphasized the importance of halting attacks on civilian vessels, port infrastructure, and grain handling facilities, which are prohibited under international law.
Ensuring the safe passage of agricultural exports through the Black Sea remains essential for supporting global food security and controlling global prices, he noted.
