Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has assured farmers in Madhya Pradesh that their soybean crops will be procured at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Addressing reporters on Wednesday, Chouhan emphasized that farmers do not need to worry as the central government has approved the state's proposal for procurement.
'Agriculture and farmer welfare are top priorities for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. For us, serving farmers is akin to worshipping God. Recently, farmers were concerned as soybean prices dropped below MSP,' Chouhan said. He added that after approving similar proposals from Maharashtra and Karnataka, the central government has now sanctioned the one submitted by Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday night, ensuring farmers receive fair compensation for their efforts.
Earlier, Madhya Pradesh's Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Aidal Singh Kansana confirmed that a proposal had been sent to the central government, and procurement would commence upon receiving approval. Kansana noted, 'Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has taken the initiative to seek permission for soybean procurement.' Madhya Pradesh, which accounts for about 60% of India's soybean production, stands to significantly benefit from this decision. (ANI)
