JKPC chairman Sajad Gani Lone asserted on Tuesday that sentiments for 'Azadi' in Jammu and Kashmir remain alive, albeit underground. In an exclusive conversation with ANI, Lone emphasized that these feelings, although invisible, are felt by Kashmiris.
When questioned about the fragility of peace in the region, Lone conceded that it now seems more tenuous than before. Reflecting on his recent electoral defeat, he acknowledged it as a vote against the BJP rather than a personal setback and expressed hopes for enduring peace.
Looking ahead, Lone announced his candidacy for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. He will contest from two seats in Kupwara district: Handwara and Kupwara, with elections scheduled to be held in three phases starting September 18 and counting on October 8.
