Chinese Auto Sector Expands Global Footprint Amid Trade Challenges

Nearly 900 Chinese auto suppliers and several EV makers are showcasing their products at a significant trade fair in Frankfurt. This comes as China's car sector seeks to expand its global presence despite looming trade barriers and domestic profitability challenges.

Major Chinese carmakers like BYD, Geely, Hongqi, and GAC International are displaying their vehicles at the event, named Automechanika, which typically focuses on suppliers. China's auto sector is making substantial investments in overseas expansion, even as Europe and North America impose trade restrictions on China-made EVs, citing unfair subsidies.

The 'EV Expo,' organized in collaboration with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, aims to build trust in Chinese EVs. According to Olaf Musshoff, director of Automechanika, the goal is to increase industry trust in these vehicles, which are relatively unknown.
