In a concerted effort to alleviate traffic congestion issues, Uttarakhand Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli convened a crucial meeting on Monday with representatives from police, transport departments, and various other agencies.

The Home Secretary urged these officials to devise both short-term and long-term strategies to address the persistent traffic challenges, specifically in Dehradun and other major cities. Emphasis was placed on adopting modern techniques and drawing insights from similar initiatives by other institutions.

Bagoli highlighted the importance of identifying new parking lots, constructing new roads, and ensuring commercial entities make use of their allocated parking. The introduction of mobile vending zones for street vendors was also suggested as a potential solution.

Furthermore, the enhancement of the red light violation detection system was discussed, with a recommendation to increase automated signals for better traffic management. The Home Secretary stressed the need for ongoing coordination with the Integrated Command and Control Centre of Smart City to achieve effective traffic management solutions.
