Police in Ujjain have arrested Mohammad Salim, 43, for allegedly recording and sharing a video of a rape incident, authorities announced Saturday. Salim, a resident of Prakash Nagar, Nagda, has a history of criminal activity, according to police.

Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma stated that Salim filmed the obscene act after the victim was intoxicated and promised marriage. "We have confiscated Salim's mobile phone and recovered the video," Sharma said. Salim faces charges under Bharatiya Nyay Sahita (BNS) sections 72, 77, and 294, as well as relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.

The police are investigating whom Salim shared the video with and those responsible for making it viral. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav emphasized that law and order will be strictly maintained, and those committing crimes will face stern action. The incident triggered significant outrage on social media after the video surfaced.
