Approximately 30 individuals were detained following a violent altercation between two groups in Patna's Phulwari Sharif over the suspected illegal movement of cattle already under police protection. The incident occurred on September 4.

District Magistrate Patna, Chandrashekhar Singh, emphasized that strict actions will be taken against those who take law enforcement into their own hands. Singh stated, "Yesterday, cattle were being shifted to a Gaushala without informing the police, leading to an altercation. The police detained around 30 people from both groups. Public should inform us of such activities instead of intervening directly; we will take necessary actions."

Previously, two suspects were arrested for illegal cattle smuggling. Singh noted, "The incident dates to September 4 when around 38 cattle were being transported in a truck. Some individuals halted the truck and alerted the police. An FIR has been filed, and the accused, Salim and Jitendra, were apprehended while others escaped."

The Phulwari Sharif Police Station's FIR, dated September 6, outlined the details of the case under section 11 of the Animal Cruelty Act 1960. Sub Inspector cum Additional SHO Diwakar Prasad reported, "A scuffle broke out between two groups; one wanted to stop the seized cattle, while the other attempted to remove them from the village. Despite police efforts to maintain peace, the situation escalated, resulting in stone-pelting and injuries to police officers."

Police successfully detained 30 individuals involved in the altercation. (ANI)
