National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) plans to implant gene-edited embryos into surrogate animals to create climate-resilient livestock, according to Dheer Singh, NDRI's top official.
This initiative aims to produce livestock better able to cope with environmental stressors, enhancing sustainable dairy farming amid climate change challenges, Singh told PTI.
To tackle issues like semen availability and infrastructure, the government is working on improving these areas. Singh also highlighted the importance of gene editing for increasing milk production and climate resilience.
