In a joint effort, the Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) conducted a targeted search operation at Agartala railway station based on confidential information. During the raid, officials seized 100 bottles of Eskuf cough syrup, which are suspected to have been transported from outside the state via train, police reported on Friday. The seizure, currently marked as unclaimed, has led the authorities to initiate an investigation to identify the individuals behind the illegal consignment. The Eskuf cough syrup has an estimated market value of Rs 21,120, according to police statements.

Further details on the matter are anticipated. In a related development last August, the Agartala GRP and RPF intensified their crackdown on drug trafficking, seizing 33 kilograms of dried cannabis worth approximately Rs 2.31 lakh. The cannabis, also found unclaimed, was suspected to be en route to another state. Police have launched an investigation to trace the origin and destination of this illicit consignment.

The ongoing investigations aim to uncover the networks involved in these illegal activities. Authorities affirm their commitment to curbing drug trafficking through such vigilant and coordinated efforts.
