Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday condemned the brutal attacks against women in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain and Uttar Pradesh's Siddharthnagar, labeling them a 'blot on humanity'. He criticized 'propaganda-centric' governments for creating an insensitive system, with women being its biggest victims.

Gandhi's remarks followed reports of a scrap collector being raped in Ujjain and a woman in Siddharthnagar being sexually assaulted by an ambulance driver and helper. Gandhi said rising crimes against women and the apathetic attitude of the police highlight the system's cruelty, calling it a serious national concern.

Gandhi stressed that serious efforts are needed for the moral upliftment of society to ensure women's safety, urging strict actions at social, political, and administrative levels. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also expressed horror over the incidents, noting public apathy in recording the crime instead of helping the victim.
